Our Path

A Natural Solution.

Nature produces 170 billion metric tones per year of biomass by photosynthesis. Generally speaking, 75% of this is a class of carbohydrates. Less than 5% of these compounds are used by humans for food or other purposes. Biomass carbohydrates are the most abundant renewable resource available, and are simply oxygenated hydrocarbons containing carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. Ultimately, we need to move towards carbohydrates as feedstocks for sustainable chemical and bio-fuel production.

Feedstock availability and cost are a limiting factor for commercial bio-fuel production. There is no single feedstock solution. A multi-feedstock approach is required as we transition from petroleum to biomass feedstocks.
